Install CADABRA.

A Windows installer for the SOLIDWORKS add-in. It runs on the seat, files and PDM you already have.

Three steps.

  1. Run the installer

Close SOLIDWORKS, then run it as an administrator. Windows has not seen this release yet, so choose Keep, then More info and Run anyway.

  2. Enable the add-in

Open SOLIDWORKS, go to Tools, then Add-Ins. Under Other Add-Ins, tick CADABRA.

  3. Sign in and ask it something

CADABRA opens in the task pane on the right. Sign in, or create a free account with no card, then open a part and ask a question about it in Ask Mode. Nothing is changed until you switch to a mode that edits.

What it needs.

CAD
SOLIDWORKS 2020 or later
Operating system
64-bit Windows 10 or later
Permissions
Administrator rights to install
Download
about 212 MB

SOLIDWORKS must be installed and opened once so it registers, or setup stops with a message. If the .NET 9 Desktop Runtime is missing, setup fetches it from builds.dotnet.microsoft.com.

Questions about installing.

How does CADABRA integrate with SOLIDWORKS?
CADABRA installs as a SOLIDWORKS add-in with a single installer. Close SOLIDWORKS, run the installer, enable the add-in, and CADABRA appears in the right-side task pane. There is no migration and no file conversion: it runs on your existing SOLIDWORKS license and your existing files.
Windows says Cadabra.Bundle.exe is not commonly downloaded. Is it safe to run?
Yes. Microsoft Defender SmartScreen is reporting that the file is new, not that it is harmful. SmartScreen grants a file a reputation only after enough people have downloaded it without trouble, so every fresh release starts out unrecognized. Choose Keep, then More info, then Run anyway. To confirm you have the real installer first, the download page prints the release SHA-256: run certutil -hashfile Cadabra.Bundle.exe SHA256 in Command Prompt and compare the two.
Do I need my own SOLIDWORKS license?
Yes. CADABRA is an add-in, not a CAD system. You keep your existing SOLIDWORKS license, files, libraries, and PDM, and CADABRA works inside them.
Does CADABRA work without an internet connection?
No. CADABRA reaches its AI processing environment over the network, and CAD data is encrypted in transit. Model inference requires sending the prompt and the assembled model context, so there is no offline mode. If that rules CADABRA out for your work, contact us before you evaluate it.
Is there a free version?
Yes. The Free plan needs no card and carries 700K credits a month, Ask Mode against the open document, live web search, and Imagine Mode for rendered concepts. Select a concept and CADABRA builds it from scratch as a SOLIDWORKS part or assembly. Building a concept requires a paid plan.
